In the Zambezi Valley, a region characterized by rich biodiversity but threatened by climate change and poverty, the OCP Foundation has partnered with Marondera University (MUAST) on a pilot project aimed at strengthening the resilience of local communities. This project focuses on the promotion of tamarind, a key tree for agroforestry and environmental preservation, while supporting the empowerment of women's cooperatives in the Binga region. Several actions have been undertaken to lay the foundation for sustainable development of the tamarind sector:

- 350 direct beneficiaries organized into 7 cooperative groups.
- In-depth diagnosis of the tamarind sector and stakeholders to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Equipment of the MUAST laboratory with IT and product quality analysis tools to support research and processing.
- Organization of the first stakeholder meeting, bringing together universities, provincial and local authorities, and local communities.
- Exchange visit to UM6P for 3 staff members from Marondera University.
Commencement of infrastructure construction for the value addition unit.
