The training program on soil fertility, crop fertilization, and Geographic Information Systems applied to soil mapping will greatly assist us in our daily work, as most of the questions posed by farmers relate to the type of fertilizer they need and the recommendations they should follow for their operations. We thank the OCP Foundation for this initiative

The African Union Agenda 2063 as well as the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development set common goals and vision for Africa. To make progress towards these goals, Africans must move beyond past trends and beyond the paths taken by other regions of the world. In this context, UNESCO and the OCP Foundation signed an agreement, in October 2017, aimed at implementing an innovative project entitled “Imagining Africa's Futures (IAF)” and which aims to coordinate reflection on the future of Africa and strengthen the continent's foresight capacity.

In order to realize this common ambition, a first center was created at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, within the Faculty of Governance, Economic and Social Sciences. This center develops research and training programs in foresight, ranging from awareness raising to Executive Education and serves as a reference center for practitioners of foresight and Future Literacy in Africa and beyond.

Its foresight capacity building program is structured into 4 pillars:

  • Awareness component
  • Academic component (degree courses)
  • Executive component (certifying training)
  • Communication and networking component.

In May 2020, UM6P and the OCP Foundation launched the CoopLab, a laboratory of expertise and support for Moroccan and African cooperatives, which capitalizes on a combination of expertise from the University and the Foundation, as well as on a set of innovative support levers undertaken in the service of social inclusion and sustainable growth. It is in this particular context of health crisis that the CoopLab has developed, in collaboration with the 1337 coding school, “Sookoa”, an e-commerce platform which supports Moroccan and African cooperatives.  www.sookoa.ma offers partner cooperatives a new marketing method through digital and the gradual establishment of a short circuit system for the distribution of purchased products.

Several tests and recommendations for improving the functionality of the platform were also carried out thanks to the participation of the Act4Community initiative and its network of regional cooperatives.

In this sense, a partnership around the Mourafaka program was signed between the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, Air Transport and the Social Economy, the UM6P, the Cooperation Development Office (ODCO) and the OCP Foundation. This is a program supported by Cooplab-UM6P which will support the training and support of 600 newly created Moroccan cooperatives in the 12 regions of Morocco.
